Our humble, furnished abode

The road to home ownership is more unpredictable than we thought. We thought it went: search for houses, find one you like, make an offer and either move in or move on in a reasonable amount of time. Of course, that would be too easy. As explained earlier, Matt and I have been waiting on a short sale to go through. We put in our offer in late April, won a counter offer competition a month later and waited. Just after we got back from our honeymoon, we were informed that the bank accepted an offer on the house. The problem was, they didn’t accept ours. In fact, they lost all the counter offer paperwork and accepted one of the lower, original offers. Yes, it was a bummer. It didn’t make sense at all to us, but maybe that’s why it wasn’t meant to be.
Since we were still on the hunt for a home and wanted one sooner rather than later, there were two things we were wanting in an apartment. First, we wanted it to be month-to-month, with no minimum lease. Second, we wanted it to be furnished, since we don’t have much and don’t want to move the things we have twice. We found a great place and signed the papers the Friday before the wedding. Our landlords are great and, while some of the apartment’s furnishings are not what we would have chosen, it’s very comfortable and exactly what we need.
It is small, so please excuse us for not having more of you all over. Instead, we took some shots of the place. So welcome to our home…
(Don’t adjust your computer monitor, that fridge really is avocado green.)
…but it’s not our home for long. Stay tuned!!
