Aloha from the Wests!
Jul 9th, 2008 by Emily
Mrs. West reporting in from Kauai! The Rose Hotel provided us with a handy travel journal, so I can update you all on our travels here. Sure, we’re on the computer during our honeymoon, but it wouldn’t be us to not be connected. So here’s our first journal entry:
Aloha from Mr. & Mrs. Matt West! We are currently aboard a plane heading for Lihue on the first day of our honeymoon. It was a close call for both our flights and there was definitely running involved. It’s just training for the “Amazing Race” TV show. We even practiced the yelling!

“Matt, how could you take a wrong turn into a restaurant?!”
“I don’t know! The gate is down there!”
“We have to beat the Nadalets or we’re out of the race!”
So far on our trip there has been a lot of laughing, sandwiches and Swedish Fish (thanks to Megan).
We’re so thankful to Johnny, Matt’s adopted brother and groomsman, for driving us to the airport; to Megan, Emily’s cousin and matron of honor, for providing a basket of goodies for our trip; and to my parents for putting on such a great party!
In these pages (of the journal) we hope to chronicle the first few moments, hours and days as newlyweds. Matt says he’ll do so online, but maybe he will give the journal a try!
Love,
Emily and Matt
P.S. I’m finally wearing my “The Wife of the Party” shirt that I won in a contest several months ago.
We’re now going over our Kauai guidebook to find some fun activities. Matt just asked me what “da kine” meant, which is fun because I’ve been able to teach him all the Hawaiian and pidgin I’ve learned from being an Atwood. We go grind at Keoki’s bra, it brok’ da mouf.
I have no idea what you just said, but sounds good to me!
