Zipping through Maui
Aug 2nd, 2008 by Emily
One of my favorite excursions on Maui was ziplining. What is that, you ask? It is you, a harness, a cable and a guide allowing gravity and physics to give you an over-head view of the beauty below. It is commonly done through the trees, but this time it was through a few valleys on the south part of the island.
Matt is helped by one of our guides, Chris, as he takes on the first line.
Our gear is so fashionable, don’t you think?
My nickname was the gazelle. And they also said they wanted to hire me on after my second line. The offer didn’t include a salary, but it was sure tempting.
How much do I love ziplining? This much!
While his form may not look like a top-notch zipliner, Matt used the “starfish” technique to slow down at the end of the 1,000-foot long line. On lines such as this one, with the help of the wind, one can reach upwards of 70 mph.
The scenery wasn’t too bad either.
