Showered with love (and house essentials!)
May 19th, 2008 by Emily
My bridal shower was Saturday and I keep remembering little moments that make me smile! Everyone was excited to find such a cute tea room in Livermore. The August Tea Room is definitely a hidden gem that I hope to visit again. We were treated to yummy appetizers, little sandwiches, cookies, scones, petit fours and champagne with strawberries!
Aunt Claire and my Matron of Honor Megan did a fabulous job of planning and executing it! Sitting in each dainty tea cup was a favor with a teabag that said “Love is Brewing,” a votive candle holder decorated like a bride and groom, and candies. Noni, Matt’s grandma, won the first game after finding a penny under her tea cup. The next game was a quiz on fun facts about Matt and me. Christine, a bridesmaid, and my friend Sandy both won this game. Both girls had a slight edge as Christine knew Matt in high school and Sandy has been a close friend of mine since Kindergarten! The next game was famous couples and I’m still kicking myself for not knowing the name of Rhett Butler’s female counterpart! (Scarlett O’Hara, my dear, duh!) Family friend Joanne took home the prize on that one.
I tried to quiz Matt on this and he didn’t fare too well. While I’m thankful he knew that Jim Halpert was linked to Pam (from The Office TV show), he lost interest after question eight (of 18). It went something like this:
Me: Who is coupled with Peter Pan?
Matt: I don’t know.
Me: How do you not know this?
Matt: Uhh… Pot Pan! (Explodes in laughter.)
Me: C’mon Matt, it’s not that hard! And it’s really not that funny….
Matt: Stainless Steel Pan!
Me: Wendy!
Matt: Frying Pan!? (Laughing so hard he’s crying.)
Me: No! Wendy Maura Angela Darling!
Matt: Non-stick Pan!
It’s a good thing I wasn’t technically “showered” with gifts, because there were so many I would have been knocked-out cold. (Especially with the castiron pan!) We are now stocked up on wine glasses and everything in my favorite color–Robin’s egg blue. They also gave us many recipes, so I can put a lot of the gifts to good use! We were overwhelmed with the generosity of our family and friends! And it meant so much to have so many people there to help us start our new life together.
Here are some pictures from the shower, for those of you who weren’t able to come. And check out the awesome bow bouquet Megan made for me! (Anyone who would rather not be pictured, let me know, I understand!)

hahahaha just rereading this and looking for a picture. Matt’s answers to the peter pan question had me laughing out loud in the office! hahaha
