Emily and Matt

Despite my dad currently being in the hospital, I have happy news.  I have finally paid off all of my credit cards.  $12,000 of debt, meanwhile incurring interest, paid off.  Sure, that may sound like a big deal in itself, but it gets better.  I can now start saving money for a RING!  I’d love to get engaged as soon as possible (since I know she’s the one for me), but I must be patient.  I wish I could tell her that I’m now debt free and we could celebrate, but I must hold back my happiness.  Originally I read that rings cost somewhere between $1,000 and $2,000.  But then I was talking to my mom the other day about hers or something and she said the average costs between $5,000 and $10,000.  That’s a lot more than I was expecting, but oh well, she’s worth it.

I am writing this blog post as a private post.  I intend to write about the steps leading up to engagement, the engagement, and beyond.  The problem is, I don’t want Emily to know.  Asking her to marry me will be a surprise, and I have a pretty good idea how I want to do it.  That will be a later blog post though.  So for now, I will privately write stuff, and then come engagement, I will make all these posts public.  That was the best way I could think to do it.
